Heart-Centered Meditation (13 Minutes)

ABOUT THIS MEDITATION

While I post most of my guided meditations on the Insight Timer App (available in your app store for FREE). I realize not everyone hangs out there. This mediation is one from the archive but feels fitting in a time when it’s more important than ever to come back to you heart.

This heart-centered meditation is aimed at guiding you to a harmonious state, a place where your heart, mind and body are united in a feeling of wholeness. When we practice being in this state of inner ease, we create “flow” by helping to regulate the balance and cooperation between our heart, mind and emotions. It allows us an extra time-window to discern effective choices, reactions, decisions and how we respond to life in general.

TIPS ON HOW TO GET STARTED WITH MEDITATION

YOUR MIND WILL WANDER

Essentially, asking your brain to stop thinking is like asking your heart to stop beating, you don't really even want that to happen. What matters is that you are mindful of the thoughts. Let’s unpack this a little more.

Attempting to stop your thoughts or empty your mind will actually elevate your stress levels and lead to more internal chattery noise. We can’t stop or control our thoughts, but we CAN decide at any given moment how much attention we want to give to them.

GO EASY ON YOURSELF

At the end of the day, we put a lot of pressure on ourselves to be better at a lot of things. If this is another one of those things you add to that list, take it easy on yourself. Even the masters struggle.

If there is something I can guarantee throughout your practice is that you WILL get distracted, your mind WILL wander and it WILL wander often. You WILL skip a day or week of practice and you WILL come back to it when you are ready This is normal, this is natural. Be kind to yourself.
